Description
A tall portrait of a hobo clown: battered grey hat with a daisy in the band, red bulb nose, five-o’clock shadow, a big red bow tie and the world-weary eyes the genre is known for, set against a mustard-gold ground. The paint is laid in flat, clean-edged patches, in the manner of the paint-by-number kits that hung in so many rec rooms. It sits in a black ribbed wooden frame.
No signature is visible on the front. Close-ups show the paint in the nose, the bow and the flower. He is also the star of the film from the living-room studio, with the L rolling past the window. He has seen things, most of them at the circus.
